5 Tips for Better Visual Marketing

If your brand is anywhere online, you’ll know that good visuals are integral to an effective digital marketing strategy. Standalone text just won’t do. However, Internet users see visual content virtually everywhere online, so you need to make yours pop.

Here’s how to get your photos and videos noticed.

Use your own pictures

In an image-rich environment, your own unique photos will stand out more than stock imagery of the same type of product. Having your branding in the photo adds an element of authenticity. In particular, timely and seasonal photos let your audience know that you aren’t always just plucking studio shots of your product from folders on your desktop.

… But don’t completely rule out stock photography

Genuine product shots should always be the number one priority for brand images. Stock photos, however, are invaluable for brands that don’t have the resources to do their own photography. Be sure to try and make the images your own, though. Add consistency to the photos by including your logo or a recognisable element of your brand design on each stock image you use.

Take advantage of Instagram

The rise of brands on Instagram is no accident. It’s helped largely in part by customers, who show off what they buy by taking some of the best and most creative product shots. These photos are great for brands to share with other potential customers across different platforms, provided you acknowledge the original source of the photo. Instagram in particular is a great platform for “re-gramming” these images – other customers will see this and want to be featured on your account, too.

Use hashtags

Make sure your images and videos reach as many people as possible by using hashtags. Catchy bespoke hashtags are best, but also remember to include a couple of additional hashtags relevant to your product to garner more interest.

Don’t forget about your marketing funnel

When creating visual content for your brand, don’t just think about the images you’re going to post on your Facebook Timeline. Design content that will fit in with every step of your digital marketing: think website content, email campaigns and content for various social media platforms.
