5 Ways to Fine-Tune Your Social Media Strategy

There’s no dress rehearsal for social media.

Of course, it is absolutely essential to have a consistent content calendar for your social media channels. But having a thoughtful, well-crafted feed requires a little bit of impromptu content, too. This means that it’s in your best interest to make sure that including authentic, seemingly spontaneous content is on your to-do list. Audiences want to be engaged, responded to and know more about the human side of your brand.

So all you need to do is show it. But how?

Don’t be coy

If people are following you, chances are they want to know more about you and your brand. You’ve got to give your fans what they want – start publishing more relatable content that speaks to your brand goals and demonstrates your authenticity. And don’t be shy about it, either.

Say it in real-time

There’s no easier way to communicate with an audience instantaneously than on social media. When you think about it, it’s far simpler to post something on Facebook than be on TV. So why not utilise it? Posting in real-time is also one of the best ways to encourage engagement on social media, as it positions your brand as genuine and on the ball.

Include pictures

To really capture the attention of your audience, you need more than words alone. Accentuate your posts with visual marketing that includes images, videos or gifs. Of course, it’s best if you can incorporate your own high quality visuals in your social media schedule. If you don’t have your own imagery, investing in stock imagery or a photographer that specialises in your business niche will significantly increase the quality of your feed.

And to really drive home brand authenticity, include candid images that you’ve taken – but ensure they are relevant to your company (not pictures of your cat at home!).

Keep it inspiring

Often, audiences will turn to social media as a source of inspiration, particularly on platforms like Instagram and Pinterest. The last thing you want is a social media feed full of dull content that will bore your fan base. Be sure to include content that will prompt them to go one step further and engage with your brand – whether that be simply liking the post, writing a comment or visiting your website.

Avoid negativity

Underscoring that last point, it should go without saying that your social media shouldn’t be promoting negativity in any form. Avoid putting off your audience by keeping it positive, otherwise risk a disengaged fan base. One of the most attractive qualities on social media is positivity, so show off the best side of your brand.
