AFL kicks goal with new Twitter Profile

AFL kicks goal with new Twitter Profile

Twitter has redesigned the way the world views your profile page. This new feature is being rolled out around the world right now, and if you’re yet to see it, here’s a preview of the coming changes…

The Australian Football League AFL, were one of the lucky first Twitter accounts to roll out the new features in Australia. Check out their Twitter page here.

Tyson Densley, AFL social media manager told StartupSmart the new changes would allow users more opportunity to engage with the game. “We’re fortunate enough to have many great moments to share with our social community every weekend, and Twitter’s new profile pages will enable us to extend the lifespan of some of the great videos and photos produced by our team,” Densley said.

Key features of the new web profile mean users can use a larger profile photo, customise their header, promote your favourite Tweets and more. All in all, it’s a cleaner layout that has a Facebook flavour to it.

New features to get your head around include:

Best Tweets: Tweets that have received more engagement will appear slightly larger, so your best content is easy to find.

Pinned Tweet: Pin one of your Tweets to the top of your page, so it’s easy for your followers to see what you’re all about.

Filtered Tweets: Now you can choose which timeline to view when checking out other profiles. Select from these options: Tweets, Tweets with photos/videos, or Tweets and replies.

In addition to the AFL and some individuals in the world of entertainment, some of the world’s top brands including McDonalds, Ford, Microsoft, Starbucks and Nike have all switched over to the new profile page.
