Not content with just having a massive viral reach, these videos have tapped in to an even bigger audience through the creation of parodies which have in turn been shared across social media.

First Kiss
This original video was created for fashion label Wren and featured a number of strangers fumbling their way through a first kiss. So what if it was staged. The video was so emotive it was around the globe and amassed more than 52 million YouTube views.

The parodies
There are stacks of parodies doing the rounds including, er, First Handjob and First Sh*t. You may have seen those but have you seen the First Sniff or the First Sandwich?

Happy – Pharrell Williams
The song from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack was a summer sharing smash that featured it’s own awesome interactive 24-hour music video. This site has had over 8.5 million views since it launched. Dare you not to tap your toes…

The parodies
Around the world, communities are getting happy and making their own videos to accompany the catchy tune. In Byron Bay, happy resident Tommy Franklin stars in a bohemian version of the video that has attracted over 94,000 views since 13 March. Even the resident of Tatooine are getting Happy.

Letting out his inner Elsa was Cinncinatti weather reporter Bob Herzog whose efforts earned him 1,885,802 views. But that’s nothing compared to the stunning effort of two ridiculously good looking parents who lip sync Love is an Open Door off the soundtrack and attracted 7,439,965 views. Way to share, folks!
