How to Write SEO-Friendly Blog Posts

So, you want your website to rank well on Google? If your website has a blog, you’re already one step ahead in the quest for SEO superstardom. But to make sure your blog posts get you where you want to be, there are a few things you have to get right – otherwise you may as well not bother at all.

Want to know more? Here’s how to create the perfect blog post.

Use WordPress

When it comes to SEO, WordPress is hands down the best platform out there. As well as being free and easy to use, it also has a bunch of plugins available that will really ramp up your SEO game. And you don’t have to be a web designer to use WordPress, either – the array of premium themes makes it easy for your site to look professionally designed.

Make it relevant

Google wants to rank sites with authority, making sure that what shows up first for certain keywords is the most relevant website that could possibly be shown. To do this, it wants to know what everyone else thinks about you.

For example, if your content is shared on social media sites by relevant people, that’s a win. If visitors click on your website and discover that your content is irrelevant to what they searched, your bounce rate will be high and you will rank lower on Google. Google will also know if your site has repetitive content or content copied from another site. So it pays to write original, optimised content for every page of your website, including your blogs.

Keep on writing

On your blog, you’ll want to make sure that you keep the fresh content coming. Google loves new, up-to-date pages and this is how you can score some serious SEO brownie points. Show the Google bots you mean business with frequent blog posts. Just remember to avoid churning out the same old thing all the time – try to mix subject matter up with each post.

Think about your links

Web crawlers want to know who is linking to your site and which sites you are linking to. If you have random links pointing to your site that aren’t relevant, that won’t look good to Google. Similarly, search engines don’t like when you have outbound links to sites that have nothing to do with you. Build quality blog posts by providing some links to sites in your industry or niche.

Be patient

SEO is a process that takes time. Even if you have a killer strategy, write frequent blog posts and do everything right, Google isn’t going to rank your website overnight. SEO-friendly blog posts are a long-term approach to digital marketing that need to provide value to your readers. If you do it right, your hard work should pay off with higher engagement and visibility on Google.
