In the lead up to Christmas, November saw a rise in search terms for games and shopping sites. Cricket has also been a popular search as the test match season started.

Games - Skyrim

The release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has seen an increase in searches for Skyrim games for the pc. The trend in multiplayer role-playing games has resulted in a rise in searches for game cheats, reviews and demos to help players through the games.

Breaking Dawn – Twilight

This month as the new Twilight movie “Breaking Dawn” was released many searches were made on trailers, reviews, downloads, soundtracks and The Twilight Saga fan pages. Searches were also high on Twilights main character Bella and the storyline of the Breaking Dawn movie.

Cricket

As the cricket season starts there has been an increase in searches for the ESPN Cricinfo Cricket Australia sites for cricket information, upcoming test matches, tickets and live scores online. Australia will play New Zealand 9th-13th December at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart.

Music

Stereosonic Festival 2011 took place at the end of November finishing in Brisbane on the 4th Dec. Searches on the lineup and times for venues in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, were popular as were online searches for headlining act LMFAO.One Direction hit the top of the charts in Australia with their album ‘Up All Night’ and searches on band members, lyrics and youtube music videos were high.

Shopping Sites

Getting ready for Christmas searches increased on online catalogues for stores such as Big W, Kmart and Target. Big W was a particular favourite with opening hours, kids toys, photos and the Kindle book reader being the most popular searches.
