Hot Searches – November 2013

Hot searches for November in Australia included the Melbourne Cup, the Ashes and celebrating 50 years of Doctor Who. Last year, Hot Searches – November 2012 the Click Frenzy Fail was top of searches with this year’s sale not so big but still a success.

Melbourne Cup

Every year Australians get ready for Melbourne Cup races with this year again being popular for Melbourne Cup 2013 and live streaming. Searches on Melbourne Cup tips, TAB, odds and horses were high in the lead up to the race with searches on results, placings and the winner being searched after the horses raced to the finish. The winner this year was Fiorente trained by Gai Waterhouse, winning her first Melbourne Cup victory.

Gaming: Xbox One & PS4

In gaming, the launch of the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 in November caused a spike in traffic as Australian gamers went online to read reviews and find out prices of the new games consoles. Comparisons of the Xbox One Vs. PS4 were also searched with EB Games being a popular site to search for pricing on the Xbox One and PS4 as well as new games.

Doctor Who

In November the UK’s popular sci-fi TV series reached its 50th Anniversary with fans searching for Doctor Who on ABC as they counted down the Doctor Who actors. Google also released a Doctor Who game where players needed to reach the letters of Google before being caught by a Dalek– exterminate! Play the Dr Who Game

Cricket

As per last year, The Ashes 2013 searches were high with Australians searching for England cricketers, cricket scores, ABC live coverage of the Ashes and cricket on the radio. ESPN cricinfo has also been highly searched to keep updated on live scores, results and fixtures.

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber is again touring Australia with concerts played in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. Searches for Justin Bieber concert and news of his late arrival to his Melbourne show have increased as well as about his Graffiti art sprayed on a Gold Coast hotel wall that he was urged to clean up.
