Hot Searches – August 2013

August 2013 Internet search history centred on sport, music and celebrities. In comparison to search history August 2012, this year again saw Big Brother become one of the top searches in Australia. Last year continued to celebrate the London Olympics and Usain Bolt’s sprints to gold, while this year we see a race of a different kind in the lead up to the Federal Election.

AEC - Australian Electoral Commission

As the Federal Election draws closer Australians have been going online to find out about AEC services including early voting, postal voting and registering change of address. AEC Australia has also been highly searched to find out more about the Australian Election taking place on 7 September 2013.

EPL - Barclays English Premier League Football

Searches spiked mid month on the English Premier League football with EPL fantasy football being highly searched. EPL transfers, news, Fox sports, results and live games have also been popular searches.

MTV Video Music Awards – Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus has gone viral with her Video Music Awards (VMA) performance creating a lot of talk about how appropriate the stars performance was. Searches have spiked on Miley Cyrus VMA performance to watch on news videos and YouTube.

Big Brother 2013 & X Factor Australia

Big brother 2013 has again begun in Australia with searches on the Big Brother contestants increasing over the month of August. The most popular contestants searched for includes Tahan, Jade, Tully and Ed as well as searches to see who is nominated for Big Brother eviction and Big Brother on Facebook.

X Factor 2013 has also increased in popularity towards the end of August with searches in particular on contestants Jai and Dami as well as to watch their performances on YouTube.
