Hot Searches – December 2012

December was all about the holiday season with Christmas and the Boxing Day sales being top of Australian Internet searches. In comparison to last year, Hot Searches – December 2011, searches also centred on Christmas, lotto and the cricket as well as Molly Meldrum who has since made a full recovery after his fall putting up Christmas decorations last year.

Christmas 2012

Australians have been searching online for opening hours over the holiday period in search of last minute Christmas gifts as well as for Christmas trees, lights, ideas and recipes. Most searches were in the last few days leading up to Christmas Day as everyone rushed to get ready for the holidays.

Boxing Day Sales

Shopping for last minute gifts and the Boxing Day Sales had Australians searching online for Westfield shopping centre trading hours particularly in Sydney and Melbourne. Searches were high for stores including The Good Guys, Harvey Norman for furniture and JB Hi Fi for games and iPods. David Jones, Myer, Kmart and Big W were also popular stores searching for opening hours and sales.

Oz Lotto

With a $30 Million mega draw on the 29th December, searches spiked as Australians went online to get the Oz lotto results and see if their lotto numbers were lucky!
